Jay Groob and Mark Spencer to Address MCLE
July 27, 2011
Jay Groob, President of American Investigative Services, and Mark Spencer, President of Arsenal Consulting, will be presenters at the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Seminar on The Impact of Social Media and Other Electronic Evidence in Domestic Relations Practice on July 27, 2011.
Mr. Groob and Mr. Spencer will first introduce and identify the types of electronic evidence, including social media, GPS, spyware, text messaging and e-mail.
Mr. Spencer will address the reactive aspects of electronic evidence, including forensic imaging, the capabilities of computer forensics, recovery of deleted data, and anti-spyware applications.
In addition to the legal and ethical issues arising from “pretexting” or “social engineering” (the practice of obtaining information under false pretenses) that will be addressed, Mr. Groob and Mr. Spencer will support their presentation with some of the more recent and relevant laws and rulings.
In March, Mr. Groob was also a panelist for the Family Law Section of the Boston Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education seminar entitled Discovery In The Electronic Age, addressing such issues as the gathering of electronic evidence, the use of social media in domestic relations investigations, and the ethical considerations involved. Mr. Groob was honored to be sharing the panel with The Honorable E. Chouteau Levine, The Honorable Robert L. Langlois, and The Honorable Maureen H. Monks all esteemed Justices of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts.
