AIS Hosts Council of International Investigators

Jay Groob, President of AIS, was honored to host the 57th Annual Conference of the Council of International Investigators (CII) “Investigations in a Technological Society,” in Boston, MA, this September.
This elite international organization of professional private investigators that meet the strict criteria for certified membership includes officers from Scotland Yard, the FBI, and Interpol.
The conference, held September 13-17, 2011 at the Boston Marriott Copley, featured an outstanding roster of speakers, including internationally recognized best-selling author Joseph Finder.
Mark Spencer, computer forensics specialist and President of Arsenal Consulting, together with Jay Groob, President of American Investigative Services, presented “Computer Forensics and Private Investigation.” After a brief introduction into what computer forensics are and how to properly handle electronic evidence, Mr. Spencer and Mr. Groob led attendees on a journey through compelling civil and criminal cases involving computer forensics and private investigations, focusing on cases they have worked together in which they uncovered digital “smoking guns” for their clients.
Other speakers of note were Norman J. Groot, an author and attorney whose practice focuses on defending police and private sector investigators in criminal, civil, and regulatory actions; John Milkieweicz, Diplomatic Security Service Liaison Officer for the Special Operations Command at the U.S. Department of State; Frank Thibodeau, a Chemical Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRNE) disaster expert and Vice President of Bruker Detection; and Amit Gavish, international security and risk management expert.
In addition to the outstanding roster of educational and entertaining speakers, the conference attendees were treated to many of the sights and activities unique to Boston, including a Welcome Reception at the Top of the Hub, a Boston Red Sox game at historic Fenway Park, a cocktail reception and buffet at the famed Hennessy’s Irish Pub, a performance by The Blue Man Group, an outing at the Granite Links Golf Course, a dinner cruise aboard the Spirit of Boston, and the famed Boston Duck Tour.
Hosting the prestigious gathering was indeed a feather in the cap of Mr. Groob, a past President of the Council and avid Bostonian, who was delighted to showcase this vibrant, city renowned for its cultural facilities, world-class educational institutions, champion sports franchises, and place at the forefront of American history, and to heighten the profile of this elite organization of international private investigators.
